I enjoyed my stay at Samal Resort & Spa, mainly for its beautiful location and clean facilities. The view of the mountains was amazing, and the buffet breakfast offered a variety of choices that were quite good. However, I was disappointed that the pool and spa were closed for maintenance, which was a big letdown given the cold weather. The staff could also improve their attentiveness, especially in the dining area.

Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, especially the front desk, but I found that communication was a bit of a challenge since the evening staff didn't speak English well. They could benefit from focusing more on customer service as well.

The resort's location is fantastic, nestled between two mountain ranges and just a short bus ride to the ski lifts at Medeu and Shymbulak. It felt peaceful and secluded yet was close enough to downtown Almaty.
